Personality:

Your first impression of Tucker is likely going to be that he’s lazy, one of those annoying guys who has to turn everything into a that’s what she said joke. You wouldn’t exactly be wrong, either.

Tucker describes himself as a “lover, not a fighter”, even though he also states he’s a virgin at the end of Season 5. He consistently makes sex jokes and hits on characters who identify as female (or whom he thinks are female). He will (usually) never turn down an opportunity to point out a double entendre or to lay a line on someone if he thinks it’ll get a laugh or a chance to get laid. When he’s in a serious situation, though, he tends to toss such things aside.

He also doesn’t really want to be team leader of Blue Team - although he’s the highest ranking character on the team he doesn’t wanna be in charge, and gladly hands off the role to Flowers and later Church. This is at first implied because he doesn’t want to do the work of a leader. But as the show goes on, they key us into a specific fact - Tucker doesn’t want to make decisions because they might be the wrong decisions, and might get people hurt.

Don’t get it wrong - it likely does start out because he’s lazy. But Tucker takes it hard when two people in his squad are killed when he decides to wait to gather information during an infiltration, and he hates feeling responsible for people when they could die. This is why he’s reluctant to lead in a military setting, but demonstrates confidence elsewhere (like hitting on people).

Once he gains some confidence outside of hitting on people, though, he does show good leadership qualities. Generally, he’s best thinking on his feet - quick plans are his forte. This isn’t to say that he can’t come up with a decent plan given more time, but the less time he has to think about it, the better it works out - in canon, anyway. Because he doesn’t want to get people hurt, he won’t sacrifice people for the sake of a mission - but he will sacrifice himself, as evidenced by when he was stabbed and kept fighting to get evidence to take down a mercenary group.

He is pretty impervious to military or tactical failures as a whole, but he takes the death of people under his command more seriously. Tucker basically cares about people more than he cares about the end goal - though he doesn’t admit this often. And frequently, if he’s not in command of a person, or a friend of them, he won’t give a crap if they do get injured or hurt. Jerk with a heart of gold, and more jerk underneath it is an apt description of Tucker. Also, you can call Tucker an idiot, but don’t badmouth his alien son Junior - a side effect of having a magical sword that is sometimes a key for an alien race and their artifacts.

So Tucker does care about people - but he doesn’t like to admit it. He’s a pretty good soldier when he puts the effort in - he just doesn’t like to. He doesn’t like command because he doesn’t like being responsible for people. He’s an asshole, but he cares. And he wants to get laid. Bow chicka bow wow.

Skills and attributes: Tucker has no special powers or abilities to speak of. He has a suit of power armor and a sword given to him because he's a "chosen warrior" of an alien race, but none of these have given him special skills (or will be available in Gates regardless).

Rather, he's basically your run of the line soldier in power armor. He can put up a decent fight, though his fighting skills do leave something to be desired when you hit high-caliber opponents. He can hold his own, but he does better on a team with his fellow Blues and team Red. He’s better at improvisational combat and sword fighting, though.
